Lawmaker investigating firings of workers who claim religious harassment
By Aaron Marshall, The Plain Dealer
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio House Insurance Committee chairman has begun investigating the firings of a trio of state employees who say they were fired for objecting to their boss's attempts to force her Christian beliefs on them.
In a Thursday letter, Rep. Dan Dodd, a Hebron Democrat, wrote that the Feb. 16 firings by Virginia McInerney, director of the little-known Workers' Compensation Council, were "very troubling."
The women complained that McInerney declared to the staff that she was sent by God to her job, inquired about their religious beliefs, called them in to pray aloud, cited scripture in her reprimands and said Satan was to blame for obstacles the staff encountered in their jobs. They accused her of wrongful discharge, religious discrimination and harassment, retaliation and age discrimination.

Vatican chorister sacked for allegedly procuring male prostitutes for papal gentleman-in-waiting
John Hooper guardian.co.uk
The Vatican was today rocked by a sex scandal reaching into Pope Benedict's household after a chorister was sacked for allegedly procuring male prostitutes for a papal gentleman-in-waiting.
Angelo Balducci, a Gentleman of His Holiness, was caught by police on a wiretap allegedly negotiating with Thomas Chinedu Ehiem, a 29-year-old Vatican chorister, over the specific physical details of men he wanted brought to him. Transcripts in the possession of the Guardian suggest that numerous men may have been procured for Balducci, at least one of whom was studying for the priesthood.
The explosive claims about Balducci's private life have caused grave embarrassment to the Vatican, which has yet to publicly comment on the affair

Comment of the Week
From THIS POST......which amassed a rather surprising number of comments.
Everyone (even the very wrong Justine) had some great input, but
this one just cracked me up....
ForeverYourGirl : Also, I am pretty sure that if you had a vagina the founding fathers weren't that concerned about your equality.

D.C. Catholic Charities Refuses Spousal Benefits to Workers Gay and Straight
by Kilian Melloy
Rather than provide family benefits to gay and lesbian employees, the social services branch of the Washington, D.C. Roman Catholic diocese has determined that it will simply not extend such benefits at all to new hires or to existing employees who were not previously enrolled.
Church doctrine says that gays are "disordered," and church authorities view sexual expressions of love and affection between individuals of the same gender as being "intrinsically evil." For that reason, Catholic Charities--which contracts with the District to provide services to the tune of $22 million per year in taxpayer money--has stepped back from its role in caring for foster children, rather than place needy children with two mothers or two fathers. Instead, the church has given over the 43 children with whom it was working, and the seven people who had been on the staff of its charitable organization, to a secular organization, the National Center for Children and Families.

GOP Love
“Rosa Parks did not move to the front of the bus to support sodomy. There is no difference between a black person and a white person other than their skin color when there’s a tremendous difference between a man and a woman. Allowing a black woman and a white man to marry does not change the definition of marriage. However, allowing two men or two women to marry would fundamentally change that definition." - GOP candidate for Congress Barb Davis White

Oh Canada...

I know I was SUPPOSED to be rooting for USA in the Olympic Hockey game and all....but my patriotism failed me and I found myself pulling for Sid the Kid and team Canada.
Nice job Sid. Overtime gold medal game winning goal. Can't ask for more than that.....except maybe another Stanley Cup.
Get Busy......March is a FULL month of games. Go Pens.
