Salinger Quote
Chez at the blog Deus Ex Malcontent posted this utterly fantastic quote from the late J.D. Salinger.....
"I hope to hell that when I do die somebody has the sense to just dump me in the river or something. Anything except sticking me in a goddam cemetery. People coming and putting a bunch of flowers on your stomach on Sunday, and all that crap. Who wants flowers when you're dead? Nobody."
Well said sir, well said. Couldn't agree more.

Bad Idea All The Way Around....
From Cnet News
In his message for the Catholic Church's 2010 World Day for Social Communications, Pope Benedict XVI called on the ministry to use the latest technologies, such as Web sites and blogs, to preach the gospel and encourage a dialogue with their practitioners.
More Catholic Priests using the Internets? Yeah, that's a solid idea. Nothing could go wrong there.
Right Chris?

Talk to Address Same-Sex Unions and the Future of Language
January 26, 2010
STEUBENVILLE, OH (MetroCatholic) — Maggie Gallagher, president of the Institute for Marriage and Public Policy, will speak at Franciscan University of Steubenville on “The Future of Marriage: Why (and How) Christians Must Engage the Same-Sex Marriage Debate.” The speech, part of the Distinguished Speaker Series, will take place Tuesday, February 2, at 8:00 p.m. in the International Lounge of the J. C. Williams Center.
Gallagher will address the current state of the national debate over same-sex marriage, and the need for Christians to take a more visible role in the debate. She will also explore ways that Christians can have an impact on the public discussion of this vitally important issue.
In a recent editorial for townhall.com, Gallagher warned Christians against responding to intimidation and harassment by becoming silent on the question of same-sex marriage.
Gallagher is a nationally-syndicated columnist and has become a leading voice in defense of traditional marriage. She has authored many articles and several books on marriage, most recently The Case for Marriage: Why Married People are Happier, Healthier, and Better Off Financially with University of Chicago sociology professor Linda Waite.
Wait....what? That's the name of her book? In one breath she is touting how wonderful marriage is and how it will make you 'happier, healthier, and better off financially'......yet in the next she wants Christians to have a "visible role in the debate". Which means being visible against equal rights. Nice.
Doesn't matter.....it will take time, but I wholeheartedly believe that same sex marriage will become a matter of fact and law. In the meantime, it does an atheists heart good to see religion doing it's usual role of trying to suppress, divide, and judge.

This guy's accent makes all of this way funnier than it may even be. Either way, I did laugh.

Pat Robertson Calls Quake 'blessing in Disguise'
I may have been doped up on my couch all week with a fist full of pain pills....but even that wasn't enough to cause me to miss this special message of love from Jesus' favorite jackass.

Slow Going
The recuperating is slow going. I am bruised in areas that are truly frightening to see bruised. I'm told it's normal, but there is certainly nothing normal looking about it. Thanks for all the kind words. My prescription refill comes in today, and slowly but surely moving around is becoming less painful than it was the day before. I must say.....I've had worse things to do than lay on a couch all day watching movies, sucking down vicodin, and drinking black coffee.

Slowed Down
Things are going to be a bit slow around theses parts for a bit.
Yours truly had a minor surgery done yesterday and quite frankly, I feel as if a large truck has run over my midsection. My new best friend Dr. Vicodin is helping through these troubled times.
Sarcasm and blasphemy will continue in the near future.

Hope..
Hope everyone's holidays went nice and silky smooth.
I remember bits and pieces of mine, and those parts seemed entertaining.
The dust has settled and 'back to work' is the name of the tune.
I have read ALL of your blogs, and commented in my mind.
Now I will actually get around to commenting realistically.
Happy New Years and yadda yadda yadda.
