Jackass Quote of the Week

Hands down the fucking dumbest thing you will read all week...

"The (New York) Times continues to editorialize about the 'pedophilia crisis,' when all along it's been a homosexual crisis. Eighty percent of the victims of priestly sexual abuse are male and most of them are post-pubescent. While homosexuality does not cause predatory behavior, and most gay priests are not molesters, most of the molesters have been gay. Here's what's really going on. The Times has teamed up with Jeffrey Anderson, a radical lawyer who has made millions suing the Church (and greasing professional victims' groups like SNAP) so they can weaken its moral authority. Why? Because of issues like abortion, gay marriage, and women's ordination. That's what's really driving them mad and that's why they are on the hunt. Those who question this to be true need to ask why the debt-ridden Times does not spend the same resources in looking for dirt in other institutions that occurred a half-century ago. - Bill Donohue (Catholic League)

First he was pointing the finger at Jews ("hey, they molest kids too!"), and now he's painting the Catholic church as the victim.

He seems to be missing a major point here. Sure, molesters come in all varieties.....gay, straight, men, women, priests, teachers, truck drivers....whatever. But when you, as an organization or company, FIND OUT about the child raping that's occurring in your organization....and you not ONLY cover it up, but then send the rapist to another parish and fail to even INFORM that parish what the priest in question was moved for....and then the priest goes on to rape MORE children.....well, that's just fucking evil. Pure fucking evil.

Any and all attempts by the church, or their lapdogs, to scapegoat this issue and play the victim should be met with the disgust it deserves.

Hutaree Website: Christian Militia Raided by FBI were "Preparing for the Anti-Christ"

ADRIAN, Michigan (CBS/AP) A Michigan Christian militia group called Hutaree was raided over the weekend as part of a three state, multiple raid action by the FBI, including raids in Ohio and Indiana.

According to a website purportedly run by the group, Hutaree.com, Hutaree are Christian "soldiers" who are arming themselves and training in anticipation of the coming of the Anti-Christ, which they believe is imminent.

A quote from the website reads: "Jesus wanted us to be ready to defend ourselves using the sword and stay alive using equipment."

Brown recluse spiders belong to a group of spiders commonly known as violin spiders or fiddlebacks. This is because of a characteristic fiddle-shaped pattern they have on their head region. The spider is golden brown with the fiddle being dark brown or black. This spider is not hairy and the fiddle pattern is often shiny. They are about 1/4 to 3/4 inch long.

The severity of a bite may vary. The symptoms may vary from no harm at all to a reaction that is very severe. Often there is a systemic reaction within 24-36 hours characterized by restlessness, fever, chills, nausea, weakness, and joint pain. Where the bite occurs there is often tissue death and skin is sloughed off. In some severe cases, a wound may develop that lasts several months.

Citywide Rosary for Life will be held on Palm Sunday
By D. GOSSETT - Full Story

STEUBENVILLE - Shirley Schalk said she was "in the middle of my prayer time last August when I heard a soft voice in my mind (saying) 'use me, use me.'"

I frequently hear voices in my mind saying "use me, use me".....this usually ends with some form of self gratification. Don't knock it.....it's sex with someone I love.

"I continued to pray because I knew it was our mother's (Mary) voice. I have been and continue to be very concerned about abortions in our country and I knew she was telling me to do something through prayer," explained the Steubenville woman.

Of course she KNEW it was mother Mary's voice. I mean, who else would be talking to her in her head? Thank goodness mother Mary was only asking her to do something through prayer. That's the exact same thing as asking her to do nothing. Whew.

"I knew the answer was a citywide Rosary prayer service, so I approached the city recreation department about holding the prayer service at Belleview Park. The city tabled my request at the January recreation board meeting until they could talk to their legal department but they have now approved my request to use the park for a Rosary for Life at 3 p.m. on Palm Sunday at the Belleview Park shelter house area near the lower ball fields," said Schalk.

What??!

How did we jump from praying about abortion to now conducting a citywide necklace worshipping service? Mary needs to either get her message straight, or stop talking to people that don't grasp the concept of 'doing something through prayer'.

"After I made arrangements with the city I talked to my pastor at Holy Family Catholic Church, Monsignor Gerald Calovini, and then approached Bishop R. Daniel Conlon who said he wanted to be part of the Rosary service," continued Schalk.

I'm amazed they could take time out of their busy schedules to attend. Must not be anything else keeping them busy that week. No alter boy hazings, legal defense fundraisers, or organized gay hatin'. Slow week for the perpetually single, male, and strange.

"Our lady told me that if we can have a Rosary said in every city and community in the country on the same day at the same time we will see abortions ended. That is my goal. And I hope we can accomplish an end to abortions in the near future. But we will continue our prayers on a citywide basis as long as necessary," she promised.

I fear she will fall just slightly short of that goal. I'm no psychic, but I boldly predict that nothing will change, abortion will remain legal, and Shirly will return home to continue to talk to herself. Just a guess, but I'm willing to wager on this one.

Schalk said the entire service may last approximately 90 minutes.

That's 90 minutes too long. I can think of a few things I'd rather do with 90 minutes than watch members of a sexist, homophobic, and perverted organization pray over plastic necklaces with magic powers. There must be a Marx Brothers movie I haven't seen 50 times yet. Must be. Or maybe just staying home and listening to that "use me" voice. Again.

James Randi Comes Out

How To Say It?

Written by James Randi

Well, here goes. I really resent the term, but I use it because it’s recognized and accepted.

I’m gay.

From some seventy years of personal experience, I can tell you that there’s not much “gay” about being homosexual. For the first twenty years of my life, I had to live in the shadows, in a culture that was — at least outwardly — totally hostile to any hint of that variation of life-style. At no time did I choose to adopt any protective coloration, though; my cultivation of an abundant beard was not at all a deception, but part of my costume as a conjuror.

Gradually, the general attitude that I’d perceived around me began to change, and presently I find that there has emerged a distinctly healthy acceptance of different social styles of living — except, of course, in cultures that live in constant and abject fear of divine retribution for infractions found in the various Holy Books… In another two decades, I’m confident that young people will find themselves in a vastly improved atmosphere of acceptance.

Before publishing this statement, I chose to privately notify a number of my closest friends and colleagues — none of whom, I’m sure, have been at all surprised at this “coming out.” I’m prepared to receive the inevitable barrage of jeers and insults from the “grubbies” out there who will jump to their keyboards in glee to notify others of their kind about this statement, which to them will be yet further proof of the perfidy of the rationalist mode of life that I have chosen. Those titters of joy will be unheard over the murmur of acceptance that I confidently expect from my friends.

Quote of the Week

"Let the record speak for itself. The Catholic Church does not approve of homosexuality; their position on pedophilia, however, is not as clear. I am sure most Catholics do not approve of pedophilia, but the executive branch of Catholicism seems to have difficulty convincing some of us that they are willing to do what is necessary to make sure that the members of their staff who are active sexual predators are brought to justice.

"I can't see any sane person not wanting someone who harms innocent children taken out of circulation as soon as possible. Relocating them is tantamount to enabling them further. Maybe there should be a television show called To Catch A Priest. I'll watch. I think the expulsion of this child from the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School is the best break the parents could have hoped for. Children should be raised in an environment of kindness and encouragement, not discrimination and ignorance." - Henry Rollins (Vanity Fair essay)

According to a new study....

Eight in 10 Americans say they depend on God for decision-making guidance.

Seven in 10 believe that when good or bad things happen, the occurrences are part of God's plan.

And six in 10 believe God has set the course of their lives.

The study, published in the March issue of the journal Sociology of Religion, is generating considerable buzz online -- much of it linked to Schieman's finding that a third of Americans agree with the rather defeatist statement: "There's no sense in planning a lot because ultimately my fate is in God's hands."

Europe Is Always Copying Us....

Child abuse claims sweep Catholic Church in Europe
By SHAWN POGATCHNIK,

DUBLIN – It often starts as a voice in the wilderness, but can swell into an entire nation's demand for truth. From Ireland to Germany, Europe's many victims of child abuse in the Roman Catholic church are finally breaking social taboos and confronting the clergy to face its demons.

Ireland was the first in Europe to confront the church's worldwide custom of shielding pedophile priests from the law and public scandal. Now that legacy of suppressed childhood horror is being confronted in other parts of the Continent — nowhere more poignantly than in Germany, the homeland of Pope Benedict XVI.

The recent spread of claims into the Netherlands, Austria and Italy has analysts and churchmen wondering how deep the scandal runs, which nation will be touched next, and whether a tide of lawsuits will force European dioceses to declare bankruptcy like their American cousins.

Christians Urged to Boycott Glenn Beck
By LAURIE GOODSTEIN

The conservative broadcaster Glenn Beck called on Christians to leave their churches if they heard any preaching about social or economic justice because, he claimed, those were slogans affiliated with Nazism and Communism.

This week, the Rev. Jim Wallis, a liberal evangelical leader in Washington, D.C., called on Christians to leave Glenn Beck.

“What he has said attacks the very heart of our Christian faith, and Christians should no longer watch his show,” Mr. Wallis, who heads the antipoverty group Sojourners, wrote on his “God’s Politics” blog.

Ugly Accusations Here In Ohio....

Lawmaker investigating firings of workers who claim religious harassment

By Aaron Marshall, The Plain Dealer

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio House Insurance Committee chairman has begun investigating the firings of a trio of state employees who say they were fired for objecting to their boss's attempts to force her Christian beliefs on them.

In a Thursday letter, Rep. Dan Dodd, a Hebron Democrat, wrote that the Feb. 16 firings by Virginia McInerney, director of the little-known Workers' Compensation Council, were "very troubling."

The women complained that McInerney declared to the staff that she was sent by God to her job, inquired about their religious beliefs, called them in to pray aloud, cited scripture in her reprimands and said Satan was to blame for obstacles the staff encountered in their jobs. They accused her of wrongful discharge, religious discrimination and harassment, retaliation and age discrimination.

Vatican chorister sacked for allegedly procuring male prostitutes for papal gentleman-in-waiting
John Hooper guardian.co.uk

The Vatican was today rocked by a sex scandal reaching into Pope Benedict's household after a chorister was sacked for allegedly procuring male prostitutes for a papal gentleman-in-waiting.

Angelo Balducci, a Gentleman of His Holiness, was caught by police on a wiretap allegedly negotiating with Thomas Chinedu Ehiem, a 29-year-old Vatican chorister, over the specific physical details of men he wanted brought to him. Transcripts in the possession of the Guardian suggest that numerous men may have been procured for Balducci, at least one of whom was studying for the priesthood.

The explosive claims about Balducci's private life have caused grave embarrassment to the Vatican, which has yet to publicly comment on the affair

D.C. Catholic Charities Refuses Spousal Benefits to Workers Gay and Straight
by Kilian Melloy

Rather than provide family benefits to gay and lesbian employees, the social services branch of the Washington, D.C. Roman Catholic diocese has determined that it will simply not extend such benefits at all to new hires or to existing employees who were not previously enrolled.

Church doctrine says that gays are "disordered," and church authorities view sexual expressions of love and affection between individuals of the same gender as being "intrinsically evil." For that reason, Catholic Charities--which contracts with the District to provide services to the tune of $22 million per year in taxpayer money--has stepped back from its role in caring for foster children, rather than place needy children with two mothers or two fathers. Instead, the church has given over the 43 children with whom it was working, and the seven people who had been on the staff of its charitable organization, to a secular organization, the National Center for Children and Families.
