Talk to Address Same-Sex Unions and the Future of Language
January 26, 2010

STEUBENVILLE, OH (MetroCatholic) — Maggie Gallagher, president of the Institute for Marriage and Public Policy, will speak at Franciscan University of Steubenville on “The Future of Marriage: Why (and How) Christians Must Engage the Same-Sex Marriage Debate.” The speech, part of the Distinguished Speaker Series, will take place Tuesday, February 2, at 8:00 p.m. in the International Lounge of the J. C. Williams Center.

Gallagher will address the current state of the national debate over same-sex marriage, and the need for Christians to take a more visible role in the debate. She will also explore ways that Christians can have an impact on the public discussion of this vitally important issue.

In a recent editorial for townhall.com, Gallagher warned Christians against responding to intimidation and harassment by becoming silent on the question of same-sex marriage.

Gallagher is a nationally-syndicated columnist and has become a leading voice in defense of traditional marriage. She has authored many articles and several books on marriage, most recently The Case for Marriage: Why Married People are Happier, Healthier, and Better Off Financially with University of Chicago sociology professor Linda Waite.

Wait....what? That's the name of her book? In one breath she is touting how wonderful marriage is and how it will make you 'happier, healthier, and better off financially'......yet in the next she wants Christians to have a "visible role in the debate". Which means being visible against equal rights. Nice.

Doesn't matter.....it will take time, but I wholeheartedly believe that same sex marriage will become a matter of fact and law. In the meantime, it does an atheists heart good to see religion doing it's usual role of trying to suppress, divide, and judge.

.

So true. The vast majority of young people don't care about someone's sexual preferences. That trend will continue, and eventually common sense will win out.

Are these idiots not aware of history?

Jews and Muslims aren't at all fond of it either.....but yes, you make a great point. She is, in fact, preaching to the choir.

Especially at THAT University. Trust me on that one.
