"People do deserve respect. Beliefs, however, do not deserve automatic respect — that has to be earned. When beliefs are laughable, they deserve ridicule rather than respect." - Austin Cline
Ridicule may be the only way to get someone who is not a true fanatic to stop and think. Throwing facts at believers doesn't do any good that's for sure!!
It's like this bullshit about tax cuts for the Uber-Rich creating jobs, if that's true, where are they??? Maybe if more people were ridiculing that, we could get the Congress Critters to allow the tax cuts for the rich expire.

Ridicule solves nothing. It is Cathartic, to a measure. Ridicule out of bounds is just disrespectful.
Who is to say when it is "out of bounds"?
If you pester and pester somebody about their beliefs until they finally tell you, and THEN ridicule them, that's out of line.
Of course, it's usually the person with the strongest beliefs that does the actual pestering.

True. That's just being an annoying prick.

I agree with Kulkuri.
Remember....those who don't want their beliefs laughed at shouldn't have such funny beliefs.
