That song won me a bet years ago. My friend insisted that Springsteen's version was the original. She was a huge Bruce fanatic, and swore that he wrote all his own songs. At the time, I didn't appreciate Springsteen, so it felt really good to prove her wrong.
I still don't appreciate Springsteen. Puts me to zzzzz. So I dig that you won a bet on that one. Try it with Rod Stewart and Downtown Train as well.....although I don't think anybody thinks Rod writes all of his own stuff
