GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- A Gainesville church known for intolerance is planning a Quran-burning ceremony on Sept. 11.
The Dove World Outreach Center is using its website and social-networking sites like Facebook to promote the event. Organizers plan to burn the Islamic holy text on church grounds.
In response, the Council on American-Islamic Relations is asking Muslims that day to invite friends and acquaintances to share educational, fast-ending Ramadan meals and distribute copies of the Quran.
The Gainesville church, which also campaigns against homosexuality, made headlines last year after distributing T-shirts that say ``Islam is of the Devil.''

Underwear packaging reportedly recalled from Walmart after Cullman pastor’s complaint

CULLMAN — A local pastor’s complaint about a brand of underwear being sold with “pornographic” pictures on the packaging at the Cullman Walmart reportedly led to a recall of the product.
Frank Boren, pastor of New Hope Christian Center Church of God in the Springhill community, said he noticed the questionable underwear package while shopping at the store in May.
“I was in there shopping for some underwear one day, and looked at the men’s pictures on the packaging,” he said. “On a few of the packages they were very pornographic in the way they were dressed, in skimpy underwear, so I went to the manager and asked her if she thought it was inappropriate to be displayed.”

The people who have been laid off and cannot find work are generally people with poor work habits and poor personalities. I say “generally” because there are exceptions. But in general, as I survey the ranks of those who are unemployed, I see people who have overbearing and unpleasant personalities and/or who do not know how to do a day’s work. They are people who create either little utility or negative utility on the job. Again, there are powerful exceptions and I know some, but when employers are looking to lay off, they lay off the least productive or the most negative. To assure that a worker is not one of them, he should learn how to work and how to get along — not always easy. - Ben Stein
I work with unemployed folks every day. I would love to see Ben tell this to some of the thousands of unemployed steelworkers in this area.

Vatican Rules
How seriously does the vatican take the idea that a WOMAN could do a priest's job? How about child rape serious.....
VATICAN CITY -- The Vatican on Thursday declared the attempted ordination of women a "grave crime" subject to the same set of procedures and punishments meted out for sex abuse.
It was just one element in a revised set of in-house rules issued on how to respond to clerical sex abuse, targeting priests who molest the mentally disabled as well as children and priests who use child pornography. Overall, they made few substantive changes to existing practice.
The new rules make no mention of the need for bishops to report clerical sex abuse to police, provide no canonical sanctions for bishops who cover up for abusers and do not include any "one-strike and you're out" policy for pedophile priests as demanded by some victims.

Ground Zero Mosque
Interesting to say the least...

It should be pointed out (again) that the “Ground Zero mosque” these idiots are ranting about is actually a proposed community center with an auditorium, swimming pool, and restaurants, in addition to a mosque. It would be housed in an existing 13-story building that’s two blocks away from Ground Zero and has no view of the area; there are two very big buildings in between the proposed community center and Ground Zero. Here is an embedded Google Map in which you can clearly see that the idea of this being a “Ground Zero mosque” is a ridiculous paranoid fantasy.
