Jackass Quote 2.0

Good gravy, I hate this lying, vacuous, festering assclown.....

The people who have been laid off and cannot find work are generally people with poor work habits and poor personalities. I say “generally” because there are exceptions. But in general, as I survey the ranks of those who are unemployed, I see people who have overbearing and unpleasant personalities and/or who do not know how to do a day’s work. They are people who create either little utility or negative utility on the job. Again, there are powerful exceptions and I know some, but when employers are looking to lay off, they lay off the least productive or the most negative. To assure that a worker is not one of them, he should learn how to work and how to get along — not always easy. - Ben Stein

I work with unemployed folks every day. I would love to see Ben tell this to some of the thousands of unemployed steelworkers in this area.

This guy is a negative tool with a poor personality. How the hell is he earning a living?

This guy creates positive utility by playing second-fiddle to a puppet chipmunk in a TV commercial.

I liked him better when he did the Clear Eyes commercials.

Totally HATE the commercials he does with Shaq for Comcast...one of the most EVIL cable companies on the face of the earth!

DEATH TO BEN STEIN.......commercials!

It's along the line of the whole Hortio Alger myth. We make our own luck, so if you aren't lucky then it must be your fault. I will say that at least he knows that it is a crappy line of reasoning as he mentions again and again there are exceptions. When you as the author of the thought must load it up with more holes then swiss cheese, how can you expect it to hold any water at all?

I worked in a machine shop in Eastlake for a few years in the late seventies... good people, every one of them. But I think if they sat down with Mr. B.S. and listened to him repeat this spiel, they would show a number of his thoughts to be accurate.

On the positive side, I think it's unlikely he'd survive.

I just love it when these rich conservatives say such things; just goes to show how out of touch with reality they are.

I know for a fact that I have bad work habits and an unpleasant personality. That's why I got all those "exceeds standards" and "met standards" evaluations in the years before I was laid off by a boss who decided to build a new office and move the business in August 2009. Oh and did I mention that I worked for an organization that depended on construction during one of the worst times for that industry? So yeah, brilliant boss with a jones to relocate and build during a horrible recession kept his job, but me? The last one hired so the first one fired? I'm the one sitting at the Dept. of Labor with all the other unpleasant people with bad work habits.

Ben Stein can suck it. It's just more class warfare. And we're losing.
