My halo is on a little straighter, but otherwise it's me.

Not.

If you want to stereotype, go for it. It's a lot easier than understanding other people and seeking truth, isn't it?

Hey, when are you going to start bashing Muslims on this blog? DIdn't they just shoot a couple of our guys and plot to blow things up? I thought this was an equal-opportunity hate site.

Brilliant. I'm stealing this and putting it on Facebook.

oh how true!

Hearing you use the term "seeking truth" is amusing to say the least.

Muslims get picked on here. Not as much as Xians....because I'm not completely surrounded by them, so they don't tend to annoy me as much!

What IF Christians know something you don't know? What IF they are trying to tell you that after you die you will have to meet God face to face and they want you to be in good standing with him? What IF their motivation for pointing out what is sin and what is virtue is simply because they love you and want you to be happy? If you found out that was true, it would change your opinion of them, wouldn't it?

We are all going to die, and we are all going to find out what the truth is.--there's no escaping that for any of us. If there is no God, all of this life is pointless and meaningless, but IF God is real, you won't be able to say you weren't informed ahead of time. :)

What IF Christians know something you don't know?.

They don't. That's a plain as day.

What IF they are trying to tell you that after you die you will have to meet God face to face and they want you to be in good standing with him?.

What if the Scientologists are right? What if the Hindus have it nailed down? What if the small tribe in the jungles of the Amazon are right and the rock they are worshipping is, in fact, God?

Yawn.

If there is no God, all of this life is pointless and meaningless,.

That is the most disturbing thing you have ever said.

If you really think that this life is pointless without a 'god' to cling to, then you need to seek some serious therapy.

I see a point to every single second of life....and enjoy it beyond my ability to properly put into words.

Oh, I sense the end of a neighborhood friendship...but let me add my 2 cents worth too, in my new-found outspoken (at least on the innertubes, atheism)...

Even if there is a God, everything is still meaningless and pointless.... We ain't doing what we're doing for GOD, are we??!!

And as Mother Theresa says, and I'm paraphrasing here, "it's not between me and you.... it's between you and God.... "

If I'm not hurting anyone, it's NOBODY'S business!

Nah....Justine and I have the ability to fight like cats and dogs on here but not hold any animosity.

I think.

everything is still meaningless and pointless.

God or no god.....nothing is meaningless or pointless. Quite the opposite. Everything has a point, a reason, and is full of meaning and purpose.

And as Mother Theresa says.

She wasn't a person who I would put any stock into. I find her to be quite morally objectionable. But....she was, at best, an agnostic, so I will give her that.

It's easy for a nice-looking young man with a good job, an education, a pleasant home in a free country, a loving family and even a girlfriend to say he's found meaning and purpose in his life without a God.

But what about people like your ex-neighbor Tony (did you ever talk to him about his troubles?) Or a paraplegic? Or someone dying of cancer? Or a depressed elderly woman trapped in a nursing home? Or a starving child in a third world country? Or a mentally handicapped person? The list of people suffering physically and mentally goes on and on, and there's no guarantee that you or I won't join them someday.

What can you say to those people about their meaning and purpose? What if someone had to feed you and bathe you because you couldn't do it by yourself anymore? Would you cease to have meaning and purpose?

The meaning and purpose you have found in your life, Lemmy, is very real, and I'm glad you see it. But the gifts and talents and health you have, you have only because God in his great generosity gave them to you to use.

But even those people God has not given your same gifts to have meaning and purpose in their life because they were created in the image and likeness of God and he loves him. God's love is what gives us meaning and purpose.

I don't see how you can prove your theory without God. Can you tell me, for example, what is the purpose in life for my 10-year cousin Helen, who has so little brain function that she can't take care of herself in the most basic ways and needs 24-hour round the clock care? She is not suffering, and her family loves her dearly, but what is she good for?

Giggles,

Yeah, don't worry about us. We're not headed for divorce anytime soon.

And to answer your question, yes, we are doing what we do for God. When we love and serve other people, we are also loving and serving God at the same time because he is united to all his children in a unique way. He's God. He can do that. ;)

Humans are male or female, but God is neither. Male humans are a reflection of who God is in some ways, and Females are a reflection of him in others. He's God, he could make us that way. :)

Humans are male or female, but God is neither. .

Correct. It is imaginary, and hence the sex doesn't matter.

I don't know her and couldn't tell you. That is for her and her loved ones to say.

Strange question!

It's easy for a nice-looking young man with a good job, an education, a pleasant home in a free country, a loving family and even a girlfriend to say he's found meaning and purpose in his life without a God. .

No, it actually wasn't all THAT easy. Overcoming years and years of brainwahing can be very difficult. Ask any woman who has escaped Saudi Arabia and Islam and they will tell you it ain't always easy.

But what about people like your ex-neighbor Tony (did you ever talk to him about his troubles?) .

Tony? I stayed clear of him. I saw things that he was up to that would curl your hair J. God or no god, you would do well to be cautious around that one.

The whole thrust of your reply seems to be "it's hard to face reality if your life is hard".

I agree. It can be tougher to face the truth when you have serious hurdles to overcome.
