Friday is upon us....

We welcome in another Friday with our good growling buddy Tom Waits. Here is Tom with "Down In The Hole", which was used as the theme song for the utterly fantastic television series The Wire.

hey, I'm just getting caught up...
You really relate to this guy. Do you sound like him? He's been a favorite for a long time, for his delivery, his fringe element, and of course what's left of his voice!

No...I sure don't sound like him! But then again, who does!

But without a doubt he has long been my favorite musician of all time. Know every album front to back and inside out. It just doesn't get better than good old Tom.

Only regret is I still have never been able to see him live. Damn.

I'm a Tom Waits fan. To me, listening to the mood and lyrics of some his songs, particularly more recently on Alice, for example, is like reading miniature plays. A sort of condensed musical theater.

You are absolutely 100% correct. Tom does more than just sing....he PERFORMS the songs. Taking on the character, inflections, and rhythms.

Have you ever seen "Big Time"?
