Insert Facepalm Here

According to a new study....

Eight in 10 Americans say they depend on God for decision-making guidance.

Seven in 10 believe that when good or bad things happen, the occurrences are part of God's plan.

And six in 10 believe God has set the course of their lives.

The study, published in the March issue of the journal Sociology of Religion, is generating considerable buzz online -- much of it linked to Schieman's finding that a third of Americans agree with the rather defeatist statement: "There's no sense in planning a lot because ultimately my fate is in God's hands."

that leaves an awful lot to chance wouldnt you say? i mean what if part of god's so-called "plan" is that we should plan our own lives?

this is where the true evil and ugliness of the church and the bible rears its head.... dont think for yourself, trust in the lord instead for he is much wiser than you. have FAITH. oh and you're a sinner by birth, your body is evil and your mind is impotent.

except that a human that doesnt think contradicts its own nature. our brain is our only weapon of survival on earth so if one doesnt use their brain, how are they to survive? one need only take a look around us to see how that all pans out.

It's true - I spent the first 25 years of my life not planning for anything because Jesus was supposed to get here in time for dinner. The good news is that some of us wake up and turn off the auto-pilot.

we will not see this idiocy end in our lifetimes, that much i feel pretty certain of. it doesnt matter because their is plenty of other idiocy around to take its place anyay. some people want god to take care of them, some people want the state to take care of them and then there are those who do not wish ANYONE to take care of them because they can do it just fine on their own.

Scientology is certainly proof of that.

Lemmy when i read a short breakdown of the foundations/concepts of Scientology, i was literally dumbfounded at the sheer absurdity of what i read AND that people actually buy into it as the truth. it isnt even absurd, it's just sheer madness.

univarn - i have never heard a carrie underwood song and am trying my best to keep it that way, lol!

The founding of the Mormon church is JUST as completely INSANE as well. They both go a long way to proving that people will believe ANYTHING.
